By using myanimalgenerator.com you agree to these terms. They are short because the site is simple: there is no account, nothing to buy and nothing to sign.

Using the site

The site is free to use, for any purpose, including in classrooms and for commercial work. You do not need permission to use the generator, and there is no usage limit.

You agree not to:

• scrape or bulk-download the site in a way that degrades it for other people (if you want the dataset, ask — see below);
• attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure;
• present the site's content as your own work, or republish it wholesale as a competing site;
• use the site for anything unlawful.

Accuracy, and what you should not rely on this for

The animal information here is assembled from public scientific databases and written up in our own words. We take accuracy seriously, but the site is provided for interest and education, and it comes with no guarantee of correctness.

In particular, do not rely on this site for anything consequential:

• It is not a field guide. Do not use it to identify an animal, a plant, a mushroom or anything else where being wrong has consequences.
• It is not medical, veterinary or safety advice. Do not use it to judge whether an animal is dangerous, venomous, edible or safe to approach.
• It is not pet-selection advice. The dog and cat breed generators are for browsing. Choosing an animal to live with needs a vet, a breeder or a rescue, not a random button.
• Conservation statuses are simplified. For real assessments use the IUCN Red List.

Content and reuse

Different parts of this site carry different rights, so please read this before reusing anything.

• Photographs are used under free licences from Wikimedia Commons and remain the property of their photographers. They are not ours to relicense. If you want to reuse a photograph, follow the licence shown under that image and on its Commons page. See the image credits page for detail.
• Species data (names, taxonomy, conservation status) originates from Wikidata under CC0 and is free for you to use.
• Our written content — the descriptions, fact cards, articles and page copy — is our copyright. You are welcome to quote it with attribution and a link. Please do not republish it in bulk.
• The software behind the site is ours and is not open source.

Advertising

The site is funded by advertising. Ads are supplied by third-party networks and their content is not ours; an advertisement is not an endorsement. See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies work and how to opt out.

Availability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". It is a personal project, and we do not promise uptime, continuity, or that it will keep existing. We may change or remove features, or take the site down, at any time.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top of the page shows when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
